Unfortunately there are only ski trips four months of the year. During the rest of the year the 50+ Ski Club continues to have meetings and sponsors other kinds of events.

Bike trip One popular excursion that has been held quite often during warm weather is bicycle trips. These day trips have been to Jones Beach, the Hamptons and other sites throughout Long Island. In one trip a group of 15 got an early start from the Mattituck high school parking area on a gorgeous Sunday morning on August 11, 2002. Hadley led us on a 28 mile journey in and around the North Fork, including a rest stop at the Horton Point lighthouse. Those that stayed with the group till the very end enjoyed a fine lunch at the Legends in New Suffolks.

bike trip Another club favorite is water rafting on the Delaware River in the spring. Many members have landed in the water as they playfully drenched close by rafts with water. The club has also sponsored a canoe trip down one of the rivers on Long Island. This is an enjoyable trip that usually ends with dinner at a picturesque restaurant. Lately there have been hiking day trips in the fall and spring as the picture on the right shows. They have become very popular. biking

The club has also sponsored a moonlit boat ride around the Statue of Liberty. This dinner cruise left Port Washington in the early evening and returned late at night. Some club members have gone on a trip to a spa in Mexico. Besides returning tanned, those who went had their bodies well tuned up for skiing.
